The Masterclass will take place from the 18th to the 24th August 2024 at the Santarcangelo Auditorium “Lavatoio”, Italy.

The masterclass will include six lessons of one hour each. Interested participants must send a list of the repertoire that they would like to work on during the masterclass and a copy of the piano scores

BIOGRAPHY

Alberto Casadei is one of the most exciting young Italian cellists of today. As well as performing as a soloist and chamber musician, he is also a composer and is passionate about writing and performing his own genre of music. He holds a Master of Arts and Advanced Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied under Felix Schmidt, Moray Welsh, Sung-Won Yang, Colin Carr and Mario Brunello.

AS A CELLIST

He has performed in various great halls including the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Cortot Hall in Paris, Royal Albert Hall in London, Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Teatro G. Verdi of Pisa, Teatro Massimo of Pescara, the Fondazione Cariplo Auditorium, Teatro Manzoni in Milan, Teatro G. Rossini di Pesaro, A.Ponchielli Theatre in Cremona, Salone Estense in Varese, Schloss Elmau, the Kaiser Friedrich Halle in Mönchengladbach, Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht and at the Philharmonie in Haarlem.

Alberto has also performed with orchestras including the Virtuosi Italiani in Verona, the Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Orchestre Symphonique d’Orléans, the Lviv Philarmonica Orchestra, the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Strumentale of Prato, the Uto Ughi per Roma Orchestra in Rome and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kiev.

He has collaborated with conductors Valery Gergiev, David Crescenzi, Marius Stieghorst, Marco Zuccarini, Michele Mariotti, Nicola Paszkowski, Edward Higginbottom and he has performed with the Signum Saxophone Quartet, Ilya Grubert, Naum Grubert, Toby Hoffman, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Daniel Jobim, Vanessa Da Mata, Claude Richard, Lyda Chen-Argerich, Guo Gan, Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Rocco Filippini and Hector Ulises Passerella.

Internationally, Alberto has won numerous competitions including the London Grand Prize Virtuoso in UK, the London Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists in UK, the Gaetano Zinetti Chamber Music Competition in Italy, the Astor Piazzolla “Libertango” Competition in Russia, the CIDIM “Nuove Carriere” in Italy, the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Competition in Italy and the Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in Croatia. At the Royal Academy of Music, he is the winner of the Wilfrid Parry Prize and the Cavatina Trust Competition.

Alberto also held the positions of Principal Cello for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, for the Arena di Verona Orchestra and the Orchestra Mozart under Claudio Abbado.

Alberto first started studying cello with his father Claudio Casadei and at the age of five he won his first competition. He graduated from the Conservatory “G.Rossini” in Pesaro with the highest marks and also completed studies with David Geringas, Natalia Gutman and Gary Hoffman at the Scuola di Musica of Fiesole, with Franco Maggio Ormezowski in Perugia, Boris Baraz at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Bergamo, Rocco Filippini at the “Stauffer” String Academy in Cremona and chamber music with Konstantin Bogino at the Imola Academy “Incontri col Maestro”.

Alberto is cello professor at the Music Conservatory “G.Braga” in Teramo.

In June 2022 Alberto was invited by the Italian Consulate to represent Italy on the occasion of the Italian Republic Day in Miami – USA.

He plays a Domenico Rogieri cello made in 1698, which once belonged to Pablo Casals and a Yamaha Silent Cello SVC 210.

AS A COMPOSER

Alberto aims to be a multi-disciplinary artist and has always wanted to perform, compose and create at the same time. He has been interested in exploring the virtuosity of the cello also using the electric one and finding new ways of expression and new musical genres. He is a versatile performer and composer, he has explored integrating different musical styles and combining them with modern techniques and electronics.
