Classes   and   Activities

We welcome young musicians to use this intensive period to work on their technique, musicianship and artistry with internationally renowned Professors. The course will be a fully immersive experience and here are just some of the activities planned during the Academy:

8th   July

Welcome Ceremony & Concert

Students will organise their arrival in Rimini for the 8th of July. To celebrate, there will be a welcome ceremony and a short concert given by the professors. This will give the chance for everyone to meet each other and have an enjoyable evening before classes commence.

Italian   Language   Class

Academy days will begin with Italian language class for all students. This will be a new and educative experience while at the same time being fun and sociable. Students will learn a bit about Italian culture and basic phrases and vocabulary. Students can practise their Italian with their professors and in their free time around Rimini.

Individual   Lessons

All students will receive 5 individual lessons with their professor. All of the teaching faculty are professional international musicians and aim to help every student improve. Lessons will be focused on technique, musicianship and most importantly, individual artistic personality. All classes will be in English.

For   Instrumental   Students

Chamber Music

Students will also receive at least 2 chamber music lessons with any professor they choose. Chamber Music is crucial to every musicians’ training as it teaches us how to play together and listen to each other. A beautiful and important part of being a musician is to share your art not only with the audience but also with colleagues.

Group Masterclasses

There will also be 2 group masterclasses for each instrument. Group learning is very effective as students can learn so much from observing others. It will also be a great opportunity to show support for one another and for professors to share ideas with everyone at once.

For   Singing   Students

Students will be focusing on the holistic approach to singing – their breath, posture and bodies and making sound that is as natural and efficient as possible. Apart from technique and languages, there will be a great focus on character, stage presence and acting. There will be opportunities to sing in ensembles as well and students will learn how to interact with colleagues on stage just like in the real opera profession.

Presentation   “Italian   Luthiery”

The Art of making Fine Stringed Instruments

This will take place one afternoon during the Academy. The making of stringed instruments was born in Cremona, Italy and this will be a very interesting and informative presentation for the students. There will be representatives from Cremona giving the presentation and there will also be a selection of handmade fine Italian instruments on show.

15th   July

Final Concert

At the end of the Academy, there will be a public concert so all students can have the opportunity to perform and interact with the community. In discussion with their professors, students may perform solo, chamber music or ensembles.

16th   July

Day Tour to Florence

After the music activities of the Academy are finished, students have the option of going on a day tour to Florence on the 16th of July. The Academy will organise the tour guide, transport and lunch. If students would like to take part, they can specify on their application form.
